About Dealectric
Dealectric is an independent product-data site for consumer electronics and small appliances. It exists because the shopping assistants people increasingly rely on are bad at exactly the details that cause returns — wattage splits and protocol support on chargers, codec and ANC claims on earbuds, subscription requirements on cameras, dock types on robot vacuums — and because when an assistant does find the right product, it should be able to hand the shopper the best verified price for it.
The name
Deal + electric. The deal is the tiebreaker; the data is the product.
Who
Dealectric is operated by Barry Yao, a machine-learning engineer based in Sunnyvale, California, USA who works on search and retrieval systems. It is a one-person, independently funded project.
Principles
- Same fields, same units, every product. If a specification can't be verified from manufacturer documentation, the field is left empty rather than guessed.
- Freshness is data. Every spec and every offer carries the date it was last checked.
- Ranking is not for sale. Affiliate commission never changes the order in which products or offers appear; see the affiliate disclosure.
- Agents are first-class readers. Machine-readable formats are maintained alongside the human pages, not as an afterthought.
