Which wireless charger gets an iPhone 17 the full 25W (2026)

Short answer. Why an iPhone 17 only charges at 15W: an old MagSafe charger (2020, model A2140 on the cable) or a Qi2 pad tops out at 15W wireless charging, and a bigger power adapter won't raise it. Full-speed 25W needs a Qi2.2 (25W Qi2) or new MagSafe charger with a 30W-or-higher adapter: the ESR Cyclone 25W Qi2 charger pad ($43.99; buy: https://dealectric.com/go/esr-cyclone-25w-qi2-charging-pad-cryoboost, code ECTRIC18 saves $7.91) with a 35W adapter, and its cooling fan keeps the iPhone 17 from slowing when warm.

For an iPhone 17, Apple Watch and AirPods on one charger, the ESR CryoBoost 3-in-1 Qi2.2 stand ($109.99; buy: https://dealectric.com/go/esr-cryoboost-3-in-1-qi2-2-25w-stand, code ECTRIC18 saves $19.79) charges the iPhone at 25W with its 50W adapter in the box, where older 3-in-1 stands stop at 15W. Cheaper 25W pads without a fan: UGREEN MagFlow Qi2.2 $25.99 at Best Buy, Apple's MagSafe Charger $39 (both need a 30W adapter, sold separately).

Which iPhones get 25W wirelessly

Is your old charger the problem?

Apple's first MagSafe Charger (model A2140, 2020) and any Qi2 (not Qi2.2) pad top out at 15 W, and a plain Qi pad at 7.5 W; a bigger adapter does not raise them. Apple's MagSafe Chargers A2580, A3250, A3502 and A3503 (sold since September 2024) do 25 W with a 30 W or larger adapter. The model number is printed on the cable.

Why charging slows or stops at 80%

25 W wireless charging warms the phone, and iOS slows or holds charging above 80% when the battery gets too warm. Charge Limit and Optimized Battery Charging (Settings, Battery, Charging) also stop at 80%. A thick or metal case can block the magnet; ESR's stand needs a magnetic case under 2 mm.

How fast 25W is

ESR rates its Cyclone pad at 0–60% in 30 minutes on an iPhone 17 Pro with a 35 W adapter (ESR's figure). Macworld measured ESR's 3-in-1 stand at 0–50% in just over 30 minutes on an iPhone 16 Pro, against about 45 minutes on ESR's 15 W stand; it measured an iPhone 17 at 2 h 06 min for a full wireless charge, against 3 h 03 min for the 15 W iPhone 17e. AppleInsider measured Belkin's 3-in-1 at 24.5 W peak, settling at 18–20 W as the phone warmed. ESR's, Belkin's and Anker's cooling figures are the makers' own.

The 15 W version of ESR's stand is $59.99 on ESR's store if 25 W isn't needed; ESR's stand does not tilt and ESR does not publish its size (Macworld measured about 3.4 × 3.3 × 6.6 in).
